Visit HOPE School and Peace Orphanage 23rd of October

This morning we got the last lot of 4,8 million dong at the ATM in De Tham Street. At 10:30 Bob arrived and we got a taxi to the Hope School for hearing impaired children. It was about time to get rid off all the millions - 70 to be precise. THAN the principal and DIEP the vice thanked us and the Coolum Viet Nam Support Group for the donation to the HOPE school.
Then we had a bite to eat, CRAB was the dish of the day. Very nice ... crab fried rice, crab vermicelli noodles, crab spring rolls. We both agreed - the best spring rolls we ever tasted !!!

In the afternoon we went to the orphanage. Had some lollies for the kids. The usual turmoil started. Besides that we had a chat with HOAN. Her lap top is a bit long in tooth and the hard disk is more than 3/4 full. We knew those fact from last Wednesday / Thursday. On the way home from the HOPE School we had stopped at a computer super store and checked out the prices. For around $ 650 one can buy a decent SONY VAIO laptop, plus $ 65 for a CD drive.
To cut a long story short, we asked HOAN what she would say if we bought her a new lap top. She was over the moon, but we had to ask the head of the department ...Dr NGUYEN TAN. So HOAN called NHI, the head nurse. We both went downstairs to see her. NHi called Dr NGUYEN, who is currently in Japan. HOAN talked to TAN and she agreed on the spot - why not.
On the way back to the third floor HOAN thanked me and told me how much she appreciated the donation of the lap top. We just received a donation from Germany of
400 Euro which covers the cost of the lap top !!! Tomorrow we meet at 10:30 and go together to the PHONG VU computer store and order the new lap top for HOAN.

Can anyone please remember if you replace a lap top can you please think about donating the old lap top to the children of the PEACE Orphanage - that would be very much appreciated, thank you!!!

All in all a wonderful day .... some rain in between, thunder and lightning too.
